The Creedy Valley Darts League was formed in 1985 by Dave Ward and Derek Farley.

They had withdrawn their team (Newton Rec) from the Crediton league and formed a new league with teams from the Country league, Crediton league and some new teams.

The league started off with 7 teams and has had a maximum of 14 teams in one season.
